Wisdom worth repeating.

FranIAm posted this unforgettable quote, but some things are too important to leave hidden among the comments. Now how can we go about shouting this from the rooftops?

"Isn’t the problem with sexism, not what it says about women but what it says about God? Doesn’t sexism really imply that God is all powerful except when it comes to women, at which point the God who could draw water from a rock and raise the dead to life is totally powerless to work as fully through a woman as through a man?"

Oh my- all I did was share some of my favorite words, from one of my favorite and wise churchwomen.

Thanks for sharing them further here.

When you read it, it really makes sense- doesn't it?

How we try to belittle God all day long in this world, with our petty prejudices, rules and fears.

I am so glad that I found this blog, I truly am.

Hope happens in community.

God in Heaven, Don't you just love Sister Joan. She is one of the most impressive people I have ever encountered. A friend and I attended the Trinity Institute a few years back when it was on the topic of Benedictine Spirituality. She was one of the speakers and I don't know what I had expected, but nothing could have quite prepared us for the experience. After that I have always thought of her as the "fiery nun in the fire-engine red suit." She was fairly sizzling, and no one else there could hold a candle to her.

Well he obviously doesn't believe as either Mies van der Rohe or Gustave Flaubert (depending upon whom you may believe) that "God is in the details." That is very sad for a "man of God," is it not?

Well, that quote seems to sum it up nicely I think.

The quote above about van der Rohe/Flaubert was intended to be a comment under the post about "Archbishop Jensen and Scripture." I'm not quite sure how it ended up here. Oh, well.
